Inkly

Privacy Policy

How your data is handled — and how most of it never leaves your device.

Effective date: May 17, 2026 · Last updated: May 17, 2026

In one sentence

Inkly stores your books and drawings on your device, uses no analytics or advertising, and has no way to identify you — the only time data leaves your device is if you choose to use the optional collaborative illustration feature.

1. Who we are

Inkly is a mobile application developed and published by Ludojama, based in Georgia. This privacy policy explains how the Inkly application ("Inkly", "the app", "we") handles information when you use it. If you have any questions, you can reach us at himirik@gmail.com.

2. The short version

Inkly is a reading and drawing app. By default it works fully offline and does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There are no user accounts, no logins, no analytics, no advertising, and no trackers.

Inkly includes an optional Cloud Sync feature that lets multiple people illustrate the same book together. If you choose to use it, certain data (described below) is uploaded to an external server. This feature is entirely opt-in — the app never contacts any server unless you explicitly create or join a shared book.

3. What information the app handles

Stored locally on your device (always)

Uploaded to the cloud (only when you use Cloud Sync)

When you create or join a shared book, the following data is uploaded to our cloud storage provider:

No other information is uploaded. We do not collect your email, location, IP address, or any other personal data through Cloud Sync.

4. Information we do not collect

To be explicit, Inkly does not collect any of the following:

5. Third-party services

When you use the Cloud Sync feature, data is stored using Supabase (supabase.co), a cloud infrastructure provider. Supabase stores participant drawings and display names for the duration of the collaboration. Book files (EPUBs) are stored only temporarily for transfer between participants and are automatically deleted. Supabase's own privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.

Aside from Supabase (and only when Cloud Sync is actively used), Inkly does not use any other third-party services, SDKs, analytics tools, advertising networks, or external APIs. All code and resources needed to run the app are bundled inside the app itself.

If you choose to share a drawing using the system "Share" function, your device's operating system handles the sharing, and Inkly is no longer involved once you pick a destination app. What happens after you share is governed by the destination app's own privacy policy.

6. Cloud Sync and shared books

The Cloud Sync feature allows up to 5 people to illustrate the same book together. Here is how it works and what to expect:

By creating or joining a shared book, you agree to these terms.

7. Content responsibility and copyright

By sharing a book through Cloud Sync, you confirm that you have the right to distribute it — for example, because it is in the public domain, published under a permissive license, or you are the author. Inkly does not monitor, verify, or review the content shared through Cloud Sync.

If you are a copyright holder and believe that your work is being shared through Inkly without authorization, please contact us at himirik@gmail.com with a description of the copyrighted work and the book code (if known). We will promptly remove the infringing content from our servers upon receiving a valid takedown request.

8. Permissions

Inkly requests the minimum permissions required to function:

Inkly does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, or any other sensitive data.

9. Children's privacy

Inkly is suitable for all ages, including children under 13. The app collects no personal information in offline mode. When Cloud Sync is used, the only data uploaded is a chosen display name (which need not be a real name), a random identifier, book files, and drawings — none of which constitute personal information about a child.

The app complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the children-related provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Parents and guardians can be assured that:

If you are a parent or guardian and have any concerns, please contact us at himirik@gmail.com.

10. Data security

Local data security depends on the security of your device itself. We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date and using a screen lock.

Cloud Sync data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on Supabase's infrastructure, which provides encryption at rest and in transit. Shared book codes act as access tokens — anyone who knows the code can join the book, so share codes only with people you trust.

If you uninstall Inkly, all local data it created (books, drawings, settings) is permanently deleted along with the app. Drawings uploaded via Cloud Sync remain on the server until you leave the shared book or until all participants have left. Book files (EPUBs) are not stored permanently — they are deleted from the server immediately after a participant downloads them, or automatically after 12 hours.

11. Your rights

Under data protection laws such as the EU GDPR and similar regulations elsewhere, you have rights including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Local data is fully under your control — you can delete it at any time by removing books and drawings within the app, by clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling Inkly.

To remove your data from Cloud Sync, use the "Leave book" option within the app, which deletes your drawings and display name from the server. If you need assistance with data deletion, contact us at himirik@gmail.com.

12. Changes to this policy

If the way Inkly handles data changes, this policy will be updated and the effective date at the top of this page will change. Material changes will be announced inside the app before they take effect. Continued use of Inkly after such changes means you accept the updated policy.

13. Jurisdiction

Inkly is published from Georgia. This privacy policy is governed by the laws of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. To the extent that other privacy laws apply to you based on your location (for example, GDPR in the European Union, CCPA in California, or COPPA for children in the United States), we honor the rights those laws give you.
